The Beaconsfield primary school, a 1,500 square metre, two-storey facility. The project consists of nine classrooms, a library, staff offices and an indoor sports and dining hall - with a fully furnished catering kitchen. TJ Brayne was chosen to lay the fundamental groundworks and infrastructure to support the project.
A growing new housing estate in Stafford now has a school to match, and TJ Brayne played a foundational role in delivering it. Appointed as groundworks and civils subcontractor to G F Tomlinson - TJ Brayne supported the £6.5m construction of Beaconsfield Primary School and Nursery delivered on behalf of Staffordshire County Council in partnership with Entrust.
The 1,500 square metre, two-storey building provides a one-form primary and nursery school comprising nine classrooms, a library, staff offices and an indoor sports and dining hall.
TJ Brayne’s scope covered the essential below-ground and external infrastructure needed to bring the site to life, including foundations, attenuation tanks and the site’s drainage network, incoming services and wider external works - supporting the new pedestrian and vehicular routes, play areas and playing field that now surround the finished school.
The objective for the Beaconsfield primary school was to deliver a fully development-ready platform that would allow G F Tomlinson to produce the exterior structure and interior of the facility with minimal disruption.
As the appointed groundworks and civils subcontractor, our role was central to achieving this. Solid foundations and incoming services needed to be in place early to keep the build programme on track - while a carefully designed drainage network and attenuation tanks would manage surface water across the site. TJ Brayne delivered the dependable platform on which to build from.
Completed in time for the new academic year, the school now accommodates for the local demand of 210 primary school, and 26 nursery placements.
